Valley Mental Health´s Alcohol and Drug Treatment Unit provides services to adults with a co-occurrence of mental health and substance problems, Chemically Addicted Mentally Ill (CAMI) adults, Women with Dependent Children, High Risk Youth, incarcerated adult males and females, and young women abusing Methamphetamine. The A and D Unit has developed programs designed to increase insight into mental health and substance abuse, develop social skills to increase support networks and increase coping skills to manage emotions, increase self-esteem through multiple choices and group participation.

Forensic Unit

The Forensic Unit is responsible for alcohol and drug treatment (average length is 16 sessions/weeks). Groups are targeted to adults only; male/female specific. Services are offered for Spanish-speaking, gay, lesbian, dual diagnosis clients and the cognitively challenged. Methamphetamine and alcohol-specific groups are available. Psychiatric, RN, domestic violence, anger management, and parenting services are also offered. All clients are referred by the criminal justice system or Department of Corrections.

CATS is an inpatient therapeutic community in the Salt Lake County Jail providing therapy and education with varying time frames and multi-agency aftercare to court ordered adult men and women.

F.I.R.S.T. -- FAMILIES IN RECOVERY STAYING TOGETHER

F.I.R.S.T is a day treatment approach for mothers and children ages 0-6. Children are assessed and treated for social behavioral problems. Mothers receive treatment for substance dependence and mental health issues. All families are assessed for bonding and attachment patterns and receive family therapy focused on reunification and family health.

Addressing the abuse of Methamphetamine among Utah?s young women, this family residential treatment model provides women and children with their own family quarters while receiving clinical service in a community setting.
