Big Brothers Big Sisters of Utah has been serving the Wasatch Front since 1978 by matching youth with carefully screened volunteers. The professionally supported volunteers provide positive mentoring relationships to help the children realize their potential. The resulting friendship brings magic into the lives of both the volunteer and the child, and is a mutually rewarding and fulfilling experience. |

Mentoring At-Risk Youth
The purpose of the Big Brothers Big Sisters program is to provide positive mentor relationships for children. To achieve this, the program employs an experienced method to make, support, and supervise mentoring relationships. Making a match between a mentor and a child includes a thorough mentor screening process and professional assessments of the child, the family and the mentor. Each mentor and child pair meets for a few hours every week for a minimum of one year. The relationship is supported by agency staff for the duration of the relationship, which may last up to 12 years. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Utah is committed to maintaining long-term relationships to achieve the strongest impact.
