First Offender INSIGHT Drug and Alcohol Classes
Provides four, two-hour, developmentally appropriate ATOD classes, designed for 4th-8th and 9th-12th grade students. The classes address drug education for first time offenders and their parents. A discussion surrounding Information on Juvenile Laws and Consequences is facilitated by an officer of the Salt Lake City Police Department. Current information regarding tobacco, alcohol, marijuana and club drugs is discussed. Salt Lake City School District students will be provided with a Substance Abuse Screening Inventory that enables a process of referral to Salt Lake County Services and other agency providers.

INSIGHT Anger Management Provides four, two-hour classes teaching anger management skills to students referred by school officials or parents. Students and parents have an opportunity to examine the components of anger as a common every day emotion. Learn the difference between anger and violence. The participants become aware of their individual triggers and physical cues. They learn and practice anger reducers, self-talk reminders and how to use these reminders before, during and after provocation. | |

Prevention Dimensions Teacher Training: One day training for Elementary and Middle School teachers and personnel to introduce the new Prevention Dimensions USOE curriculum. Teachers will be trained in the application and have an opportunity to prepare and share a classroom presentation from the Prevention Dimensions curriculum. |
